A man was in his front yard mowing grass when his attractive, blond, female neighbor came out of the house and went straight to the mailbox. She opened it, looked inside, slammed it shut, and stormed back into her house. A little later she came out of her house again, went to the mailbox, again opened it, and slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went. As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, here she came again. She marched to the mailbox, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever. Puzzled by her actions, the man asked her, "Is something wrong?" To which she replied, "There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps telling me I have mail!"
Have a nice day!!! )))))))

Toyman, Why the obsession with the U.S.A.? I've noticed a book referenced "Why Russia not America," by an A. P. Parshev. Why the obsession with us? What is your point? James

The modern history esp. the last 10 years gave us the answers to all the questions: No 1:
No 2:
No 3:
i.e. this article shows us why we'll be one step beyond FOREVER! (but closer than the back of beyond) Russian society should loose all the illusion about the "friendly West" which will never accept Russia as the partner. The tales about "West need the stable and prosperity Russia" are calculated to produce an effect of brain's misting. It's a pity I still can't find the excellent words told by Fedyor Dostoevsky last century. The main idea was: "Why the Europe will never love us?". And it doesn't matter and depend on who we are: czarists, commie or democracy. |

Toyman, the fact is that Western Europe despised both the United States and Russia. Read the writings of the Marquis de Custine, who traveled the Russia of Czar Nicholas I in 1839; also, read the travels of Alexis de Tocqueville, a compatriot of Custine, who traveled the United States ealier in the same decade. Russia was thought of by Western Europe as a half barbaric land that was only half civilized; the United States was laughed at as a dumping place of the scum of Europe. The fact is, my friend, that the World will never love either of us. Accept that. James

So, that's why we should to clarify ourself who we are,- Euro or Asian. The Chinese have done it already, and took a decisive step concerning the "western material and spiritual values", and they don't care do you like it or not, they say "We were born not yesterday and we'll disappear not tomorrow". I visit China/Hong Kong quite often, so I can see the situation from inside. We are getting in a digital new era where the "non-barbaric" West don't want to see the third world nations as the EQUAL IN RIGHTS PARTNERS. The "criminal precipitation tank" of Nothern America had put the European a$$es in a line 200 years ago. That was your way, you had to force (with a little help of the Crown's perennial enemy Russia) stiff and self-assurance Europe not to love you but to respect you. So we should choose our way and do the same. And I really don't care how we gonna do that. |

Toyman, just think. If a space visitor visited the Earth at 1100 A.D. and wondered which society would've progressed to dominate the Earth, I'm almost sure that he would've put his money on China. China was at that time the most advanced society on Earth. Western Europe was just emerging from the semi-barbaric Middle Ages. But around 1500 A.D. something happened to China. The Chinese, with their ethnocentric ideas of cultural superiority, ceased to be an outward thinking society and retreated into isolationism. The Chinese, to generalize, become more and more obsessed with their superiority, thus cutting themselves off from the "barbaric" outside world. The falacy of this became evident in the Opium War with the British; the successive loss of Hong Kong and the ever appeasing appetite of the European colonialist, made evident the error of China's paradigm. The so-called barbarians in the West outgrew the Chinese and leapfrogged them in science and technology. I just hope Russia doesn't make the same mistake and retreats into isolationism. James

to read one day the "Rose Of The World" book by Daniil Andreev (son of Leonid Andreev). He gave a lot of answers. Later try to link his ideas to the new coming "digital era" and you'll see that the "modern progress" is a wrong way for grasping the universe. It's a way to nowhere. I really believe that Chinese did a right things, but something wrong has happened to "space visitor's" calculations. The time still hasn't come yet,- the wealth was invented by devil, and its still give us the orders. Lets see for how long. http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Chamber/4544/index.html P.S. I'd like to see one day Tibetian people who'll turn stone to dimonds and gold (just to show it like the proof of our stupid desires), move in space (not getting fast Concordes) and time.
