I really like this part of your post: And this imprint is on us forever, whether we are with him or not, now. He had us believing with our inner beings that he was God Incarnate. That makes a deep imprint, especially after 20 years. Personally, I have to allow that imprint to fade and be replaced with beautiful ideas and thoughts and positive energy. The more I am angry or resentful at him, the deeper the imprint remains and bothers me. The more objective I can be about it and forgive myself for my foolishness and naivete, the less it bothers me now. I can relate to that.

In fact, it's an important part of the process because it also uncovers the grief of the losses. Of course, it's all based on an individual's personal journey out. I would never discourage anyone who is a newly exiting premie from expressing anger towards Maharaji (in an appropriate way) because he is the perpetrator of his mind-control. Denial to anger to grief to resolution. Ultimately, that's when self-forgiveness can truly take place. That's been my journey, anyway. I read somewhere recently that sometimes people are too quick to "forgive and forget." They forgive but still haven't done the forgetting part. That's when folks can run into trouble.
