A tactic adopted by the cult to prevent the free flow of knowledge, is to prevent those who have knowledge from revealing it. Sometimes, this happens through the courts, but this post is not concerned with this practice. Sometimes, such as with Mike Dettmers' non-disclosure contract, this is normal business practice. Mike is prevented from revealing details about EV's and Maharaji's financial affairs because of the confidential access Mike had to that information. Of course, that contract didn't cover revealing knowledge about Maharaji's drinking, womanising and other information, and Mike has exercised his right to free speech in this regard. Since then, the cult has taken a more thorough approach. Anyone leaving Maharaji's personal service these days, if they want a reasonable severance payment, has to sign a contract that prohibits them from publishing anything about their time serving Maharaji. These contracts are watertight. All the former servants of Maharaji who have contacted me have expressed regret that they have signed these contracts. Even telling me of the existence of these contracts has brought the risk of legal action against them. To those who have signed such contracts, all I can say is enjoy your lives free from the tyranny of Maharaji, even if you cannot speak out. To anyone who is offered such a contract, I will say that the money you will receive is NOT worth a lifetime of being unable to speak out against wrong-doing. Do not sign your voice away! John. |
