Anyone know dates as to when Matther, Mark, Luke & John were actually written? Or who it was that actually wrote them? Do we have any scrolls or original writings from which we can translate to see just how accurate the bible books used today under those titles really are? |

There is no evidence that Matthew, Mark, and Luke were written in the 50s and 60s and there is evidence that they were written later.

rpcman... Could you provide a link to this evidence? I would be very interested in checking it out.
Thanks,
Logan

There are dozens (if not hundreds) of books out there on the subject. Here are a few I read 5+ years ago:
http://www.2think.org/mack.shtml
http://www.2think.org/agttb.shtml
http://www.2think.org/hyam.shtmlBasically, most scholars date Mark @ about AD 70, Matthew and Luke about AD 85-90, and John at ~ AD 100. The reasons are several but have to do mostly to the contents of the books themselves which give away what texts the anonymous authors were relying on in the creation of the gospels.
We don't actually have the books from these dates though so a skeptic may rightly say that even the above dates could be generous.
Here are some other links that may be of use:
