I don't know if anyone still reads this board, but I'm going to ask a few questions anyway. These are mostly directed at "Frank", but all opinions are welcome. Reply] Sats say hardly anyone reads this forum anymore. They are all on Asian Mu Do, or Yahoo now. This board was basically created to deal with OYD attacks on my first Message board. Now that thye are gone, it's pretty much dried up. My Kung Fu forum however gets as many hits as allways, and my Tai tzu forum, although slower still gets hits too. :=:= First: I have been reading the Oom Yung Doe website, and there is lots of talk about a "correct path" or whatever. What I want to know is how are the [national, regional, etc.] instructors and the students supposed to follow, or for that matter even find, this "correct path" if Grandmaster "Iron" Kim is not on it himself, and has in the past encouraged others to not be on it? Landing yourself and others in jail is no way to demonstrate any sort of correct path. Reply] They can't, it's a farce. :=Second: I am dismayed by some of the responses that "Frank" has made. "[B]ring it on!!!" ??? I was under the impression that martial arts was not about fighting or showing off.
Reply] Actually, Martial arts is all about fighting, or atleast training for it. In fact the most traditional schools all have fighters entered in the uo Shuo every year, and yuo see countless competitons where ful contact fighting is the norm. As for Showing off, there are always Forms divisions that are extremely exciting for both the spectators, and the performers. >>It always seems that one of the first things they teach -little kids- in martial arts classes is not to use martial arts just to fight or challenge people, or just to show off, but [to defend yourself] only if you absolutely have to.
Reply] This is important for Kids. But even they compete in tournaments. Thus, I wonder, if you are an instructor like someone says you are, why do you respond in this way? I should think you would be able to find a better way to present yourself. Or, am I wrong in thinking that martial arts skills should not be used in this manner? :=:= That is all. |
