Edit

Mitsusbushi the engine people who designed this engine sent me the facts about this engine! ( In Japenese)

All this happens is this order.

1) The oil circulation is poor and the oil starts frying. Regualar oil can not take 300+ degrees.

2) The frying oil produces sludge.Which accumalates no matter how many times you change the oil. ( You will see sludge in oil fill cap)

3) The sludge further stops the oil circulation and the car runs Hot.( Oil smells like diesel fuel).

4) The engine Coolant/water vaporizes forming a air bubble on the top of the engine by the bleed valve.

5) The water stops circulating causing No heat blowing and the Head expands causing head gasket leaking.

6)Water bubbles/foam leak & build's up in the engine causing poor lubrication of the Timing Chain & Rod bearings.

7) Engine starts ticking & knocking.( rod bearing, timing chain, etc.)

8 Engine freezes up or dies.

YES, THIS IS A VERY POOR ENGINE .

MISUBUSHI DESIGNED THIS ENGINE USING COMPUTER CAD. THEY SOLD IT TO CHRYSLER OF COURSE DID NOT USE IT IN THIER OWN CARS. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

BUT LISTEN TO ME!  If this has not happened to your Intrepid yet! YOU CAN STOP THE SLUDGE PROCESS by using Synthetic oil like MOBIL 1. It was engineered for Jet engines to take over 400+ degrees. It will not cause sludge buildup which is the main reason this engine fails.

I have over 200k miles on two intrepids 2.7's I own. All raised on 100%Synthetic oil.
