I have a 2000 Intrepid with 80,020 miles, mostly highway driving. Before anyone accuses me of not maintaining my vehicle, I have all service records for scheduled maintenance and oil changes- all MOPAR parts and Dodge mechanics. My engine failed this morning on the overpass of a major highway. My first indication was lack of power steering, gauge lights coming on etc. I'm very fortunate that this didn't happen with my 3 year old in the back on the country roads we sometimes travel. These messages are amazing. I thought I was the only one to hear the standard Dodge shuffle when faced with these problems. This is the 3rd Dodge I have owned and will be the last based on the treatment I received at the dealership. Fortunately, I have a family member that is a retired mechanic. We will be putting in a new Jasper engine next week. I cannot believe that in the age of ISO, Six Sigma and every other quality management program that manufacturers are producing junk like this. My next car will be Japanese or German.
